This post is inspired by my lovely sister-in-law, Miranda, who like myself seems to be in a constant battle with skin issues. A battle that sometimes can seem to be a losing one.
I’ve talked a lot about how eating a more plant-based diet and using clean, natural products have greatly helped my struggles with acne, and I truly believe that if I had not changed my lifestyle my skin would be much worse off.  Does that mean that I never break out anymore, unfortunately, no. There are times that no matter what I do, I can still wake up the morning after morning with multiple blemishes. It can be downright frustrating, not to mention depressing.
Since everyone’s body is different, and there are so many factors to consider when trying to narrow down the culprit to your skin woes, it can be even more aggravating to deal with.

Fortunately, all hope is not lost. While you are working on taking care of the internal issues, there are some really amazing and effective natural acne treatments out there that can help to heal the blemishes that have already made an appearance.

Below are some of my favorite tried and true acne treatments. Since acne is caused by so many different things, I’ve found that for myself, my skin may need different ingredients depending on what has caused me to break out (ie: monthly cycle, stress, food allergy, medicine, toxins, weather, etc..)

1) Living Libations – The three standouts for me in this gorgeous line are Dew DabGrapefruit Cellular Renewal, and the Best Skin Ever – Seabuckthorn. With ingredients like lavender, tamanu, seabuckthorn, immortelle, frankincense, vetiver, palmarosa, rosehips, neroli, and tea tree to name a few, not only are breakouts thwarted, but the skin is nourished and healed as well. Once you try this brand, you will be obsessed.

2) Elaa Skincare – I’ve raved so much about this line, but when something works, you need to get the word out! The shining stars for acne relief in this line are the Clarity Nectar (spot treatment), Clarity Serum, and the Cleansing Fairy Dust (which I also use as an overnight spot treatment for really cystic blemishes). You can read my review on these products here. SOPRANO will save you 10%

3) Annmarie Gianni Skincare – Another of my favorite lines, I had amazing results in little time using their anti-aging sample kit.  Even though this states it is for mature skin, the products work wonders on acne breakouts. The Dead Sea Scrub can be used as both an exfoliant and mask for extra healing and the serum and oil both contain very powerful anti-acne ingredients that not only kill acne bacteria, but hydrate and heal the skin as well. This kit is a must-have if you are concerned with both acne and aging.

4) Faerie Organic – I love their mineral foundations, but their Mineral Therapy Acne Treatment is simply amazing. This is a great product to use as a touch-up throughout the day if you have your make-up already on and don’t want to use an oil or cream-based treatment on top of your foundation. Ingredients such as sulfur, willow bark extract, tea tree, and boron nitride all work to shrink blemishes, while aloe leaf juice, niacinamide (vitamin b3), and kelp soothe and heal. This can be used under foundation as well to keep skin shine and blemish free.

5) SkinNutritious – My favorite product of theirs is the Organic Clove Oil Clearing Serum. I use this whenever my skin is being particularly stubborn and nothing else will work. Clove oil is a very potent and powerful anti-acne essential oil and this serum is quite remarkable. The ingredients are just organic jojoba, clove bud oil, bergamot, and tea tree oil. I like to use this as a spot treatment as well as a nighttime serum. Use sparingly though, as both clove and tea tree can be drying to the skin.

6) Sequoia Beauty – Another of my all-time favorite brands, I am particularly in love with their Honey Berry Enzyme Mask and I use it as a face wash as well as a mask to really let the healing ingredients go to work on my skin. This is such a beautiful product and it makes my skin so soft and supple afterwards. I honestly can’t imagine life without it! Check out my review of this amazing line here

7) Dr. Alkaitis – All I can say is – get the travel kit. It’s $50 for 8 products (face wash, toner, treatment gel, nourishing oil, eye cream, day and night cream and a mask) that all work to calm, soothe, hydrate and heal inflamed, irritated and blemished skin. This kit lasted me several months as you need the tiniest amount to see any results. These are highly nourishing products that produce wonderful results rather quickly!

8) Eminence Organics – It’s no secret that I am a huge Eminence fan (you can read reviews here and here), but I have to be honest, when my skin is suffering from hormonal breakouts, the only thing that really seems to work for me is their Eight Greens Youth Serum and Moisturizer, both of which contain phytoestrogens to help alleviate skin issues caused by our wacky hormones.

On my radar:

Products that I have heard amazing things about, and need to try:

1) Osmia “Spot Treatment”
2) May Lindstrom “Problem Solver”
3) Annmarie Gianni “Oily Skin Face Oil”
4) Pai Skincare (all!)
5) Mukti Botanicals “Acne Gel”

Have you tried any of these treatments? Are there any not mentioned that have worked great for you? I’d love to hear what you have to say and if you know of an acne treatment that is really awesome, I’d love to know!

Peace and Love,
~Sabrina
