Product Obsession – Niora Naturals

Skincare

In the 34 years that I have been dealing with acne, I have pretty much tried everything on the market. Some things have worked OK and some I wish I had never wasted my money on, let alone put near my skin.

I can also honestly say that nothing conventional has even come close to truly healing my acne the way natural products have. That’s not to say that all natural products are created equally, however, and I think I have found a line that is going to be a continual favorite of mine.

Right as I was having a frustratingly nasty battle with some stubborn hormonal acne, Niora Naturals came to the rescue.

Products were generously sent for my review

Niora is a company born from care, passion, and commitment, as it was created by a man as a gift for a woman.
In 1992, chemist George Tindall began creating natural anti-aging skin care products. Two years later, George met Cindy, a beautiful woman who suffered from adult acne. She was often embarrassed to show her face in public.
George saw Cindy’s frustration with the acne products she used. They were not that effective and were irritating and harsh. Typically they left her skin dry and did little to control oiliness. They certainly didn’t enhance the beauty of her skin. George wanted to create a new anti-acne product for her, one that would not only clear adult acne but also keep her skin moisturized, healthy, and beautiful.
After extensive research, he developed a product made of natural and organic ingredients. Instead of trying to sterilize the skin and strip it dry of oils, Tindall focused on exfoliating and cleansing pores while balancing oil and moisture levels. The approach worked, and the revolutionary Alpha Clear was born.
The results were immediate. Cindy became more confident, and happier and did not need to hide anymore. The best part was that she and George married. Cindy hasn’t had acne since, and even as she has gotten older, her skin has remained soft and glowing.

Niora’s goal is to provide effective, natural anti-aging skin care solutions for adults with acne-prone skin by using superior anti-aging ingredients to create skin-friendly treatments that clear acne. We are committed to formulating our skincare to the greatest extent possible with natural ingredients that are cruelty-free, organic, and earth-friendly.”

Niora believes that the best way to clear acne is to improve the health, moisture content and texture of the skin and I couldn’t agree more. Focusing on healing the skin, rather than drying it out with harsh chemicals, is always the better way.

I was so fortunate to be sent several of their lovely products and I am excited to share my thoughts with you!

1) Silk Basic Emollient Make Up Remover – Though I prefer using an oil to remove my makeup and as a pre-cleanser, for those who like a more creamy makeup remover, this is the one for you. It’s very light and silky and rinses off cleanly. I do like to use this for eye makeup removal as it is so gentle and non-oily. You could also use this as a morning cleanser. Overall, I really liked this after I got used to using something different than my oil cleanser! 🙂

Price – $17.95
Ingredients – Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba oil)*, water, glycerin*, aloe vera*, phospholipids (lecithin), xanthan gum, mixed tocopherols (natural vitamin E)*, sucrose laurate, gluconolactone*, potassium sorbate. 4oz (120ml) *Ecocert and/or certified organic
2) Alpha Clear Cleanser – I have to say I am in love with this cleanser! I normally use Dr. Bronner’s or another sulfate-free sudsing gel cleanser, but like the makeup remover above, I quickly grew to love using this. This rich, creamy cleanser contains lecithin-emulsified jojoba to dissolve oils and natural fruit acids to exfoliate the cellular debris that clogs pores. My skin has been so much softer and smoother since I started using this, which is a huge deal with how cold and dry the weather has been lately!
Price – $16.95 for 8oz
Ingredients – water, glyceryl stearate (palm)*, simmondsia chinensis (jojoba)*, alpha hydroxy fruit acids, aloe barbadensis (aloe vera)*, glycerin (vegetable)*, phospholipids (lecithin extracts)*, xanthan gum, vitamin E*, gluconolactone*, essential oils (ylang ylang and orange)*, sucrose laurate, potassium sorbate.

*Ecocert and/or certified organic

3) Alpha Clear Exfoliant – This light, refreshing toner contains alpha hydroxy fruit acids to help slough off dead skin cells as well as containing aloe and glycerin to hydrate and nourish. The scent is very subtle and it leaves your skin nice and hydrated once it dries. I also liked the fact that it didn’t sting my skin, like other products that contain hydroxy acids have, which could be because Niora uses whole extracts of apples, citrus fruits, and sugar cane. These extracts are much more gentle and sensitive skin friendly. You also only need a light spritz on the face and neck to get results.

Price – $13.95 for 4oz
Ingredients – water, alpha hydroxy fruit acids, aloe vera*, glycerin (vegetable)*, gluconolactone*, potassium sorbate. *Ecocert and/or certified organic

4) Alpha C Serum – This, besides the Intensive Moisturizer, is probably my favorite product in the group and the one I think that has made the biggest improvement in my skin. Micro-emulsified golden jojoba works to reduce sub-visible skin fissures as well as visible wrinkles, while vitamin C esters work to brighten and firm the skin. I can honestly say that since I have been using this twice a day, my skin has become much brighter, smoother, and yes, firmer! And as with all of the Niora products, my skin is much more hydrated and balanced. I would definitely purchase this when I run out!

Price – $31.95 for 1oz
Ingredients – water, alpha hydroxy acids, aloe barbadensis (aloe vera)*, glycerin (vegetable)*, simmondsia chinensis (jojoba)*, phospholipids (lecithin extracts)*, xanthan gum, Vitamin C Ester/oligopeptide complex, ascorbic acid polypeptide, vitamin E*, alpha lipoic acid, gluconolactone*, essential oils (ylang ylang and orange)*, sucrose laurate, potassium sorbate. *Ecocert and/or certified organic

5) Facial Intensive Moisturizer – I think what I love the most about this product, besides the ingredients, is the finish it imparts. Though it is highly moisturizing, it leaves a more matte finish and seems to blur out imperfections, much like a foundation primer. I’ve only been using the smallest amount and it has been keeping my skin quite nourished. This would be another product I would purchase when I am out.

Price – $19.95 for 4oz
Ingredients – water, glycerol stearate (palm)*, jojoba*, alpha hydroxy fruit acids, aloe barbadendis (aloe vera)*, glycerin*, argan oil* phospholipids (lecithin extracts), xanthan gum, ceramides, vitamin C complex (tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate and magnesium ascorbyl phosphate), alpha lipoic acid, vitamin E*, sucrose laurate, glucolactone*, essential oils(ylang ylang and orange)*, potassium sorbate.*Ecocert and/or certified organic

6) Eye Therapy Anti-Aging Serum – I like that this eye serum, like all of Niora’s products, was created with acne-prone skin in mind, as some eye creams I have tried have caused little breakouts under my eyes. This is a very light serum, yet still very moisturizing, thanks to ingredients such as aloe, glycerin, jojoba, phospholipids, and hyaluronic acid. It also contains vitamin C to brighten and oligopeptides to firm.

Price – $17.95
Ingredients – water, alpha hydroxy acids, aloe barbadensis (aloe vera)*, glycerin (vegetable)*, simmondsia chinensis (jojoba)*, phospholipids (lecithin extracts)*, xanthan gum, Vitamin C Ester/ogliopeptide complex, ascorbic acid polypeptide, vitamin E*, alpha lipoic acid, hyaluronic acid, glucolactone*, essential oils (ylang ylang and orange)*, sucrose laurate, potassium sorbate. *Ecocert and/or certified organic

My overall thoughts – I was deeply impressed by every product I was sent, and I feel that if you are looking for a really effective, natural, and wallet-friendly line to fight acne and prevent aging, this is your brand. I love that every product contained either aloe or jojoba or both – two highly healing ingredients for acne-prone skin. I also love the philosophy and mission of this company and I would definitely purchase more products from them in the future.

Have you tried anything by Niora Naturals? What products would you be most interested in from them?

Peace and Love,
~Sabrina
