As much as I love the holidays (the food, the time spent with family, the presents), I don’t love the cold, dry weather that accompanies them! Colder weather means dry skin & hands, static-y hair and most annoyingly – dry, chapped lips! Ugh! I literally go through gallons of lip balm this time of year!

Luckily, my friends at Vital Proteins have come up with a fun, easy and delish way to get your lips soft, smooth & under the mistletoe kissable! 😉

Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. Crush candy canes, using a food processor, or by pressing them with the back of a spoon in a plastic bag (sandwich bags work great!). The finer the better!

  2. In a small bowl, pour 2 tbsp. of water (cold or room temperature works best) on top of the candy canes.

  3. Add 1/2 scoop of Beef Gelatin and mix together.

  4. Apply the mixture to your lips using your finger or a toothbrush for extra exfoliation.

  5. Rinse with water to remove.

Benefits of Vital Proteins Collagen Protein Beef Gelatin:

  1. Promotes youthful skin, healthier hair & stronger nails
  2. Promotes a more restful & deeper sleep
  3. Helps manage a healthy weight
  4. Promotes bone & joint health
  5. Promotes a healthy immune, digestive & central nervous system
  6. Comes from pasture raised, grass-fed bovine
  7. GMO, gluten, preservative, sugar & ractopamine free

I’ve been using the Beef Gelatin powder for almost a week and I love it as much as I love the Marine Collagen & the Beauty Greens (see review here). And because this is a gelatin, I have only been using it in hot liquids – I used it in an Indian Sauce one night for dinner, and because it is completely tasteless, I also used it in my oatmeal, and in my coffee. 🙂

Adding collagen to my diet on a consistent basis has been a real life changer for me! My joints & back ache less, my skin looks better, my hair and nails are stronger and grow faster and my weight is more manageable (which is good because pizza!). I can’t wait to try more recipes with the Beef Gelatin! 😀

Have you guys ever tried Vital Proteins? Do you use collagen in your diet? What do you think of this DIY lip scrub?
