Morrocco Method Holistic Haircare Review

Clean Beauty

Morrocco Method is probably the most unique natural hair care line that I have ever tried. And I’ve tried a lot! Some I love, and some just don’t seem to get along with my hair no matter what I do or how much I want to love them. Anyone else relate to this struggle?

I had tried a few of Morrocco Method’s products years ago when I first switched to cleaner brands, but never tried their shampoos..until now. Boy, was I missing out! I’ll admit at first I wasn’t sure whether or not I liked them as my hair felt a little greasy after. But after I went back and re-read the instructions, I realized (duh) that because these formulas are so concentrated you need to dilute them (1:1) before using. THAT made all the difference! I don’t even need a conditioner afterward because of how nourishing and hydrating these are! My hair is left clean, soft and healthy looking/feeling! Buh-bye bad hair days!

All of Morrocco Method’s products are raw, wildcrafted, vegan, cruelty-free, paleo, handcrafted in small batches in the USA and are free from sulfates, GMO’s, soy, gluten and other harmful toxins you don’t want to use.

I was generously gifted their shampoo starter kit as well as their Diamond Crystal Mist Conditioner & Moisturizer and today I’m going to spill the deets on each…

Starter Travel Set, 5 Shampoos – ($35) – This travel set contains all 5 of their shampoos (which are based on the principles of the 5 elements – earth, air, water, fire, and ether). This is the perfect way to try out each of the shampoos to see which you like best. Broken down they are (info from their website):

  • Apple Cider Vinegar Shampoo
Fire • For all Hair & Scalp Types
Raw apple cider vinegar balances the pH level of your scalp, stimulating sebaceous glands and
blood circulation. Most cleansing and clarifying of the five.
  • Sea Essence Shampoo
Water • For Normal to Dry Hair & Scalp
Sea vegetables like kelp and blue-green algae hydrate the hair and scalp, repairing brittle
    strands and reducing breakage.
  • Earth Essence Shampoo
Earth • For Normal to Oily Hair & Scalp
Natural clays like kaolin and montmorillonite detoxify hair and scalp of toxins and excess oils
while rejuvenating the strands. Leaves hair full and lustrous.
  • Pine Shale Shampoo
Air • For Normal to Flaky Hair & Scalp
Restorative pine shale oil calms irritation and rescues the scalp from flakes, itchiness, and
    dryness.
  • Heavenly Essence Shampoo
Ether • For Normal to Damaged Hair & Scalp
This synergistic blend of beneficial plant extracts adds shine, softness, and manageability to
    damaged, weak hair.

I don’t know if I have a favorite shampoo, as I likes them all, though because my skin (and scalp) are more on the oily side, I tended to gravitate more towards the Apple Cider Vinegar & Earth Essence Shampoos, even though their site does say that for the best results you should rotate them each time you shampoo as they are meant to function as a collective whole. I guess the reason is that each shampoo provides your hair and scalp with a different, necessary nutrient, which is why you will get the most out of using all of them. Another thing that’s recommended is to wash your hair twice when using these. The first wash is to loosen dirt, debris, dead skin cells and excess oils, while the second wash flushes all of that gunk away and as you massage it in, really goes to work to nourish and heal. 😀

I also want to mention that these shampoos do not lather – they have a creamy, almost mask-like consistency (due to the clays that are used), so if you’ve never used a non-lathering shampoo (or tried a no poo method), these may take a bit to get used to. Your first instinct may be to use a lot, but trust me, you only need a little bit and make sure it’s diluted!

Diamond Crystal Mist Conditioner & Moisturizer – ($19) – Even though it’s not necessary to use a conditioner with the shampoos, I still like to use a leave-in spray conditioner before combing through my wet hair. Also, since this helps to de-frizz, this is perfect to tame hair that has a mind of its own.

Made with natural herbs and rare oils, as well as energized liquid crystals that are from the Himalayan mountains of India, this not only soothes the scalp, but it provides light hydration that won’t weigh hair down. This also protects hair against heat damage as well as humidity, which I love.

It’s also a multi-tasker (which I always love) in that it can also be used as a facial toner & makeup setting spray, aftershave spray, as well as a natural deodorant.

I’d say if you’ve tried every other natural hair care line out there and haven’t found one that “does it for you”, then definitely check this brand out. You may need to make adjustments depending on your hair – because if you use too much or don’t dilute it like they suggest, it’s too moisturizing and you could end up with greasy hair. If you follow the instructions, and give it a chance, I think you’ll be happy with the results!

Have you guys tried Morrocco Method at all? What are your thoughts?

Peace & love,
