Clean Beauty

Hi, guys! It’s been a while since I’ve posted on clean beauty, and even though this is a bit late (I’m going to write a life update soon, so you’ll understand), I wanted to share some exciting news!

As most of you may remember, I had the honor of judging the Clean Beauty Awards hosted by Cert Clean and Pur Picks and today I have the list of finalists! WOOT!

But first, I want to share the products that I had been sent to judge and a few quick thoughts on each.

  1. Ao Skincare PM Treatment – Contains peptides, plant-based retinol (bakuchiol), astaxanthin and kiwi oil to name a few to tone, clarify and help skin retain its natural oils. I had tried and reviewed this brand years ago and loved them, and I was not disappointed in this product. It didn’t irritate my sensitive skin and actually helped keep breakouts at bay.
  2. Helena Lane #2 Bronze Geranium Tinted Moisturizer – I used this as more of a bronzer to add a bit of glow to my skin. Made with lots of nourishing organic ingredients, as well as zinc oxide for UVA & UVB protection and mica for a natural tint.
  3. Blueberry Facial Cream by Chosen by Johanna – This cream contains organic ingredients of mango and shea butters, almond oil, rosehip oil, and blueberry extract to hydrate, nourish and rejuvenate skin.
  4. Rosemira Divine Honey Rose Replenishing Cream – Light in texture, yet ultra-rich in moisturizing properties, this cream is chock full of skin-loving goodies – like organic rosa damascene hydrosol, organic olive oil, organic jojoba, and rosehip oils as well as essential oils of neroli and honey. This came in handy once winter kicked in!
  5. Priya Apotheca Phyto Metamorphosis Cream – Plant stem cells, chamomile, helichrysum, black cumin, meadowfoam oil, and kokum butter work together in this botanical souffle to hydrate, nourish and restore, while organic hemp-derived CBD oil calms skin and combats redness. This definitely did calm down redness and I ended up giving this to my hubby and he really likes it – his skin went from dry and flaky looking to smooth and plump and hydrated in a nano second!
  6. Province Apothecary Protecting & Restoring Face Balm – Another favorite, I use this as a primer under my make-up or to spot treat any dry patches. Broccoli seed oil gives skin that airbrushed effect that silicone primers do, while delivering lots of vitamins and nutrients into the skin and borage seed, jojoba, and avocado oils deeply hydrate.
  7. Eco by Sonya Super Fruits Hydrator – A lightweight, oil-free moisturizer that contains hyaluronic acid to retain moisture and wild harvest plum to protect and nourish skin, this is perfect for skin that is acne-prone and needs moisture without feeling greasy or clogging pores. I gave this one to the hubs as well for a daytime moisturizer and he loves this one as well since his skin can get a bit oily at times.
  8. Le Pure Perfecting Illumination – This tinted moisturizer does more than just offer a touch of color, it’s a potent anti-aging treatment. It contains prickly pear, rosemary extract, shea butter, sunflower seed oil, and macadamia seed oil. I like to mix a bit of this into my regular foundation for extra moisture. It gives a more dewy look which I love.
  9. Leaf People Stem Cell & Peptide Radiance Face Cream – Hands down, this was my favorite of the bunch! This cream just hit all the right notes with me – light, yet hydrating texture, heavenly, but not overpowering scent, and an ingredients list that reads like poetry! Made with some of my fave ingredients like peptides, plant-based hyaluronic acid, green tea, gotu kola, rosehip oil, seabuckthorn, vitamin C, camu camu, black cumin seed, jojoba, and sandalwood just to name a few, this cream really packs an anti-aging punch! But I also noticed that my skin looked more clear and broke out less while using this so double yay! πŸ˜€

I really enjoyed testing all of these products and discovered some new favorites along the way. My process for judging is the same as it is for every product I test – I try each product for a few weeks and keep note of how they made my skin feel, their textures, smells, efficacy, and if I would continue to use them or recommend them to others. The only difference is that as judges we have specific criteria to judge on, so that factored in as well. πŸ™‚

Now…drum roll, please!

Here is the list of finalists! πŸ˜€ I was super excited to see some of the products that I had tested make it on this list!
